My Yard Sale Mapper was created to solve a practical problem: planning an efficient route through garage sales, estate sales, thrift stores, antique shops, and other local destinations collected from multiple sources. Comparing addresses and deciding which stops to visit first can quickly become difficult, especially when locations are spread across a community.

Cyber Scriber developed a custom web application that lets users add destinations by name and address, view them on an interactive map, and organize the order of their stops. Users can preserve a preferred sequence or use route optimization to reorder stops and reduce unnecessary backtracking. The application also provides route distance and drive-time information so users can review their plan before leaving.

To make local planning easier, users can browse suggested destinations by city and category, including thrift stores and antique shops, then add selected locations directly to an existing route. Routes can also be saved or shared, and completed routes can be opened in Google Maps for turn-by-turn directions.

The current curated destination lists focus on Albany, Oregon, and surrounding communities, while the application is designed for route planning anywhere. Responsive design, mobile-friendly mapping, and location-based tools help the application remain useful whether a route is being prepared on a desktop computer or from a phone.

Cyber Scriber built the application with ColdFusion, MySQL, HTMX, Google Maps APIs, and responsive design techniques. Together, these components support custom route management, interactive mapping, suggested-location browsing, and a straightforward experience for discovering more stops while spending less time driving between them.
