Spam has been a problem for most of the time the web has been around. Unless you have been extremely cautious about letting your email address get onto a spammers list, then you likely have a lot of junk email in your inbox every day.

Standard web server spam filtering does an ok job, but for the best protection from junk email, Postini is available to all Cyber Scriber customers.

Here's a quick summary of how this system works: Your MX records are changed to go to the Postini servers. What this means is that when email is sent to you@yourdomain.com, it is sent through the Postini email filters first. One of three things happens here, 1) The email is bounced to the sender if it's has very strong indications of being spam. 2) The email is put into a quarantine for up to 30 days if it suspected of being spam. 3) The email is forwarded to your email account.

Further, you will have an account at Postini that allows you to modify the spam filter settings, add emails to your safe senders list to make sure they bypass the filters, or add emails to your blocked senders list in case spam gets through and you want to be sure it's rejected. You can also review your quarantine file at any time and will be sent an email every evening listing the messages added to the quarantine that day.

On average, 75% of email is blocked, 20% is put in quarantine and 5% is sent through. The effectiveness of this system cannot be overstated.
